My interest in photography lies in making people look, then think, then look again. Transitions is a piece of work which was inspired by watching the gradual changes that occur at a building site over time. Through the photographs captured at the site in Unley, the angular, organised lines build over time, the site appears differently in summer and winter, and the passage of time is documented. The viewer is struck by both the move towards progress and modernity being constructed in these compact dwellings, and a sense of loss of the land which was previously freer, more open and perhaps more in touch with nature. Bold lines, shapes and colours tie the photographs together, and the strong composition of the images demonstrates the photographer’s eye.
This work was exhibited at Cats in the Loft in Port Adelaide, during SALA (South Australian Living Artists Festival) 2015. Hand-framed prints are available for sale from the Artist.
